Nani Commends Gov. Okowa On Appointment, ACNPN. For Award .

The Executive Director of Finance and Administration,  (DESOPADEC )  Chief  (Hon) John Obukohwo Nani aka the  Awemutuwewi of Idjerhe Kingdom  has applauded the Governor of Delta State,  Senator Dr Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa for his appointment as DESOPADEC Executive Director of Finance and Administration which he claimed   has exposed his good works before the world. 

Chief Nani who spoke to journalists soon after the award of Excellence and Outstanding Community Leadership conferred on him by the Association of Community Newspapers Publishers of Nigeria , remarked that  before now,he never knew that   His modest contributions to the society is been noticed, promising that what  has happened will make him do more to the people  with God been with him continually . 

The former Delta State House  of Assembly member who represented Ethiope West local government area,   and  a former   Commissioner of Environment in Delta  said that he was highly honoured and grateful to God and the Organisers, affirming that this award is one in a million to him.

He added that of all, '" The  Awards I have received so far, this meant so much to me. I do not know that my little contributions towards the advancement of the society is been noticed.  At lease those of us here today who were singled out for these awards are not the only people in the state. Our good works brought us here."

He enjoined Deltans and Nigerians in particular who are privileged,  to use their vantage positions to help others who are in need at all times,  remarking "that those you help today even though they did not come back to say thank you sir for what you did   for me, but be rest assured that God will reward you greatly for doing good to people some day. It is a law of retributive justice. "

Chief Nani  who reiterated that he was very happy with the award of recognition conferred on him by the group, advised that  they should  always look critically by only extending these awards to those who have carved a niche for themselves by doing the needful to the society and not people with questionable characters. 

In a chat with one of the organisers of the event Comrade Patrick Ochei,  the publisher of the integrity News watch magazine  said, they having taken an empirical study of Delta State since its inception in  August 27th, 1991, they came to the conclusion that some persons in their own way have significantly contributed to the growth of Delta and such people needed to be recognised hence  this laudable idea came to their minds.

He assured that they will not Relent in their effort in sorting out the  best citizens of the state as time permits for similar awards from  time to time to  spur the citizens  to emulate the good legacy of others.

Tragedy: Reckless driver kills Supervisor Councilor's wife, four others hospitalized

By Stephanie Ikanone Odiete  It was tragedy for the Eta family on Thursday January 13th, 2022 as one of the sons, Hon Jimmy Eta lost his wife to a reckless driver at about 6pm in Sapele local government area of Delta State.  An eye witness, Mr Alaska Kadiri who narrated how the accident happened, told Sapele Mirror Newspaper that he was standing outside with the deceased, Mrs Toju Jimmy Eta when the car veered off the road, and hit the deceased and four others.  Mr Blessing Etor another eye witness who spoke in the same vein said that he was standing outside with the late Mrs Toju Eta and her son, Master Akpos Eta, and three others, Miss Birha Etchie, sister to the late Mrs Toju Eta, Mr Isreal Aigbigbel and Mrs Josephine Okorodudu when he received a phone call from a friend, and he immediately crossed to the other side of the road to receive the call. Agbarho Kingdom Palace Sets Ablaze By Unknown Arsonists

The palace of Osuivie of Agbarho kingdom in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, have been set ablaze by a yet to be unidentified persons suspected to arsonists. Though the report was sketchy, it was gathered that parts of the palace was set ablaze at about 3am on Tuesday. According to sources, “The palace main hall, a guest house, a staff quarter that houses NYSC Corp members and the window of the traditional ruler’s apartment were among areas allegedly burnt. “There were also attempts to set the car of the Osuivie ablaze as petrol fumes were perceived in some parts of the palace. Speaking to newsmen, the palace guard, Mr. Friday Sabulefe, revealed that the arsonists, numbering three, broke into the palace, held him down and issued threats to him at gun point.
