You exemplify the very spirit of humanity - Observers International tells Pemu
Barely 24 hours after Dr Festus Pemu Akponofuo, the Senior Special Assistant to Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, on Community development, emerged as the Non - Academic Staff Union Of Educational and Associated Institutions, choice for their Society & Humanity award, Observers Network Internation Media, ONIM has confirm him as the winner of their Humanity award.
Observers Network said the Sapele born philanthropist won the award for always putting others above himself.
"Hon Pemu's pain has always been how to help others to live a better life and his humanity work is legendary. From providing borehole to communities, providing learning materials to school children and paying hospital bills to empowerment and reaching out to prisoners, his act of lifting people up is endless" Mrs Anthonia Overah while reading the incitation said.
Pemu’s passion, commitment, and concern for the vulnerable members of the society are rare and worthy of emulation. We acknowledge that he has been doing so much to support the indigents and the vulnerable and the less privileged.
“It is in recognition of these efforts to better the living conditions of others; giving the hopeless, hope; homeless, shelter and the hungry, food; and even going further to create a source of livelihood for them, that we have deemed it necessary to give Pemu the award, to encourage him to continue the good work”, she said adding that ONIM will continue to identify with positivity.
"Last year award went to Aito Amadena, popularly known Mama Amin in Ibadan, the 63 year old woman who uses the little cash her son sends from overseas to feed indigent kids in her area, and this year it is from Sapele"
She however urge Nigerians to be their neighbours keeper and always look to the positive side.
Responding, Hon Pemu thanked ONIM for finding him deserving of the honour saying, ” humanity is my religion and I will continue to do all that I can to uphold humanity”.
He described ONIM as a necessary partner needed to complement his desire to make the world a better place "This will only spur me on, and I must say it's the beginning, lets continue to be our brother's keeper and the world will be a better place" he said, while dedicating the award to God and the state governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa.
On Friday, NASU had awarded their
Society & Humanity award to the philanthropist for his recognition to
Society & Humanity.
While presenting the SANU Award to Hon Pemu at Eboh Hotel in Oleh, Isoko South local government area of the state, the National President Barr. Hassan Makolo in his speech had described the People Democratic Party Chieftain as a man who aims to give tribute to individuals in society who exemplify the very spirit of humanity by putting it into practice and action'
